What
are EIFS??
An
Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) is a multi-layered
exterior wall system that we use on commercial buildings.
This system was introduced in the United States about 30 years
ago. The product and process consists of an insulation
board made of polystyrene foam that we secure to the exterior
wall with an adhesive (or mechanical attachments when
necessary), an application of a water-resistant base coat over
the insulation, reinforcement with a fiberglass mesh, and then a
finish coat of acrylic. Many times we refer to this
process/product as an artificial stucco.
